Rachel Greenbank is from Kendal, Cumbria. She currently lives and works in Brampton. As a teenager she was influenced by pop artists Richard Hamilton and Andy Warhol and the super-realist Micheal English. All of the above inspired a love of contemporary portraiture.
After graduating from UClan with a 1st Class BA (Hons) in Illustration & Visual Communication in 1998, she gained a job as a greeting card designer working for International Greetings. She has just finished an art residency at South Lakes Mind and enjoys running group art workshops. She describes herself as a portrait and figure artist who blends faces & figures with abstract patterns, textures & nature photography to create digital montages. These images form the reference for her paintings. Working in acrylic on canvas, slate or wood, she also enjoys working in coloured pencils. Her paintings have a street urban style, dreamlike with feminine qualities.
